MikeOnTheTrail is Off the Trail this Season
Not a great hiking / backpacking season for MikeOnTheTrail after an accident in the backyard involving my Rottweiler, the neighbors little rat dog, the sudden deceleration of my knee against a rock and then two weeks later, thinking all was good, having a great time hiking the Virginia Range. 3 months later, X-Rays, MRI's and money out of my wallet, I find out surgery is in my near future. Nothing major, just Knee Arthroscopy to repair a Meniscus Tear. Hoping to be back on the trail in time for the fall color show.
Granite Range, Buffalo Hills, Twin Peaks and Poodle Mountain Now in Public Hands
More than 17,000 acres of prime wildlife habitat in the Granite Range, Buffalo Hills, Twin Peaks and Poodle Mountain wilderness study areas in northern Washoe County now belong to the public, using money from public land sales in Southern Nevada.
After a five-year process, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management purchased the land for $7.25 million from Todd and Sam Jaksick of Reno.
