Hiking the Pacific Crest TrailThe Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) is the jewel in the crown of America’s scenic trails, spanning 2,650 miles from Mexico to Canada through three western states. It reveals the beauty of the desert, unfolds the glaciated expanses of the Sierra Nevada, and provides commanding vistas of volcanic peaks and glaciers in the Cascade Range. The trail also passes through historic mining sites and evidence of human’s endless quest for natural resources. Thousands of hikers and equestrians enjoy this national treasure each year. MikeOnTheTrail and NevadaRambler began hiking the Pacific Crest Trail in 2006. They found a few hiking guides that have been very helpful: Day Hikes on the Pacific Crest Trail California by George & Patricia Semb and Pacific Crest Trail Northern California Edition by Jeffrey P Schaffer. While researching ways to day-hike the PCT, I ran across a, now lost, Forest Service website with geo files for the entire Pacific Crest Trail. I've been working with the files to make them more useful with GPS units - this page has several of the files ready for download. Also found this site from a hiker of the PCT. He provides maps, waypoints and tracks. Halfmile's PCT Maps
